The study, commissioned by WirtschaftsWoche, surveyed around 1300 people to get their thoughts on characteristics such as trust, quality, innovation, sustainability and image. These were the areas in which the Klett Group was able to impress those surveyed the most, making it the best medium-sized family-run business in Germany. In taking the top spot, the educational organisation won out over well-known brand names such as Birkenstock, Ritter Sport and Ravensburger.
This is the second time that market research institute Innofact has identified the best medium-sized family-run businesses for WirtschaftsWoche. For the study, market researchers created a business development index for family-run companies with a turnover of between 250 million and one billion euros. This data was considered in relation to the firms' registered patents and the results of the survey, then used to produce a ranking of the best 100 companies.
