ESD stands for Education for Sustainable Development. It empowers learners of all ages to make informed decisions and take individual and collective action to change society and care for the planet – for current and future generations. The idea behind it is simple: we must not live in a way that is to the detriment of people in other parts of the world or future generations.
Global challenges such as poverty and hunger, water scarcity and global warming affect us all and the only way to face these is through concerted action. For a future worth living in, we must act now.
As a large European education group, we are doing our part by encouraging a sustainability mindset among all learners. We continue to introduce products and services that empower people to shape the future for the good of humanity.
We empower people to act responsibly. It is a mission that we take extremely seriously. As an educational concept, ESD is the means by which we can help people understand and reflect upon their own actions in a global context and make responsible decisions for a sustainable present and future. For us, ESD is a lifelong learning process. That is why, in 2022, we made it our mission to anchor ESD in our products. Our goal is to make ESD an integral part of our educational programme, our teaching activities and our teaching materials from reception through to university.
